From new home builds to heritage restorations and commercial projects, every step of the journey has shaped the business I run today.
The Early Years Learning in the Hunter Valley
I began my career with an apprenticeship in the Hunter Valley, working under one company from the very beginning until I completed my trade. Most of this time was spent on new residential homes, where I built a strong foundation in preparation, painting, and finishing techniques.
Sydney Experience Heritage and Commercial Projects
After completing my trade, I spent three years in Sydney, where I worked on a wide variety of projects that pushed my skills further. Highlights included:
Heritage repaints across Sydney’s older suburbs,
Repainting 10 maternity ward rooms at Nepean Hospital,
Commercial bank repaints,
Major works at the Royal Australian Navy base in Sydney Harbour,
A series of large scale residential and heritage repaints near the Blue Mountains.
These projects required not only technical knowledge but also the ability to work within sensitive environments and deliver results to a professional standard.
Returning Home to Newcastle
After Sydney, I returned to Newcastle, where I continued to focus on residential repaints. This gave me the chance to work closely with homeowners and see the difference a well-executed repaint can make to a family home or investment property.

Drawing on this mix of residential, commercial, and heritage experience, I started RS Painting Hunter Valley to bring quality craftsmanship to local clients.
